Alaska Board of Fisheries to Meet in Anchorage, February 1-12
Board to consider Upper Cook Inlet fisheries; Meetings in Wasilla, Soldotna, also scheduled
(JUNEAU) - The Alaska Board of Fisheries will meet February 1-12, 2008, at the Coast International Inn in Anchorage, to consider proposals concerning regulatory changes to the Upper Cook Inlet Area sport, commercial, and personal use fisheries.
Proposals have been submitted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, local advisory committees, and the general public seeking adjustments to the fishing regulations and management plans for the Upper Cook Inlet area fishery. For more detailed information on the subject matter, members of the public are encouraged to read the meeting notice which can be viewed on-line at: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/fishinfo/index.php.
The board will take oral public testimony at the meeting. Anyone wishing to testify before the Board must sign up at the meeting site in Anchorage before 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2. Public testimony will continue until everyone who has signed up has been given the opportunity to be heard. Members of the public will be given three minutes each for personal testimony before the board.
Written comments on specific proposals will be accepted and distributed to members during the meeting up until they begin deliberation on the proposal. Deliberations on the proposals will begin following public testimony and continue through the remainder of the meeting. Copies of the proposals, the agenda, and the “roadmap” can be viewed online at: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/fishinfo/index.php
Committees of the Board will also hold public hearings in Wasilla and in Soldotna on the topics pertaining to its February 2008 Upper Cook Inlet Finfish meeting. The hearings are intended to allow for additional opportunity for public comment on topics before the Board. The Wasilla hearing will take place beginning 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30 at the Best Western Lake Lucille Inn. The Soldotna hearing will take place beginning 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30 at the Soldotna Sports Center.
